Happy Birthday To Us!

It seemed like only yesterday Escapism Plymouth opened its doors to the public! Turns out that it was actually four years ago and so much has changed!

Transforming spaces is something we pride ourselves in, and we started early; after an exciting and drastic transformation of what was in the space originally, we opened up on Bretonside on 23rd of May 2022. Almost unrecognisable now to how the building looked when the team first came in, some of our team still remember sitting in what is now our reception area with writing on the walls! 

We started off with a team of 6 Game Hosts and 3 rooms: The Missing, Radioactive and Legacy. Breadcrumbs opened the next week, and would end up being a crowd favourite until its closure last Christmas to make space for Jingle - over 4000 rooms run in that time!

Wrecked and Forge opened their doors in spring 2023, finally answering the question as to what was behind that mysterious door at the end of the hallway! Santa’s List came to join us from Chester that Christmas, and then Accused moved in, taking our total rooms up to seven, and then there was no room left, so obviously we stopped making new rooms…

…For a few months! We then bid farewell to Legacy (over 2000 groups had tried to find Lady Mary’s jewels) and bought in our next Christmas room - Showtime! An exciting pantomime themed room that people loved so much that it stayed until March! (You might remember we did remove the tinsel, don’t worry.)

Then an exciting proposal that, like all good things, started as a joke: Oceanic Panic, a collaboration with the National Marine Aquarium. This Aquarium based adventure is a great choice for families or new players (and a calming space for our game hosts when they need to relax after a hard day’s clueing)

Next came Jingle, our chaotic Christmas shopping experience, and most recently Dig, our most ambitious room yet opened to great reviews!

We’ve been lucky to have such a great gamehost team behind us (it’s a little bigger than 6 now!) as well as our wonderful collection of players who have come and tested their skills, we wouldn’t be here without either of them.
